PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR THE TREATMENT NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS
Disruption of the nervous system can cause difficulties with joint movement, walking, speech, breathing, swallowing, and learning. Physical therapy plays a crucial role in the rehabilitation of patients who have been diagnosed with neurological disorders.
Patients who suffer from these disorders often end up losing mobility much sooner than with aging alone. Exercise is vital for both emotional and physical health, but it is painful and sometimes dangerous for those with these conditions.
Patients with neurological disorders are dependent upon physical therapists in much the same way that athletes are. There are various strategies used in programs of physical therapy. For example, neuropathy is treated with Anodyne therapy at Physiocare. It is a type of infrared light therapy used to improve circulation to the nerves to decrease pain, numbness, and/or tingling and improve sensation necessary for balance and walking to improve standing and walking tolerance and decrease the risk of falls.
Our physical therapists specialize in evaluation and treatment of individuals who have a disease or injury of the nervous system resulting in difficulties with movement.
With treatment at Physiocare, mobility can be improved and possibly fully restored.
Feel free to contact us at Physiocare Physical Therapy at any time. We are a direct access facility, which means you don’t need a referral to begin treatment with us for Bell’s palsy, MS, Parkinson’s, or other neurological injuries or diseases.
Many of our patients, however, have been referred to us by a doctor. We work with medical teams to ensure the best possible outcome for patients suffering from neurological disorders.
